1. Essential service communications
When you book a ride or ticket, RYDZ or the relevant transport provider may need to contact you about verification, Captain assignment, departure details, service interruptions, boarding, receipt, refunds, account security and important policy changes. These messages are operational and are not always the same as optional advertising. We use the contact details you provide in the service and limit messages to legitimate purposes.
2. Communication channels
We currently use in-app notifications, push notifications (sent through Google Firebase), email, in-app chat between rider and Captain during a ride, and phone or WhatsApp when you contact support or support contacts you about a case. RYDZ does not currently send SMS messages. An advertised communication feature is not a guarantee that it works without a compatible device, signal or valid contact address. Critical journey information should also be accessible in-app where reasonable. Do not rely on one channel as the sole method of responding to an emergency.
3. Promotions and consent choices
Newsletters, offers, referral campaigns and other non-essential marketing should be sent only with the legally required choice, such as an appropriate opt-in where applicable. We record relevant consent and honor withdrawal. Marketing messages must identify RYDZ, should describe a usable opt-out method, and may not hide sender identity or force users to agree to unrelated advertising as a condition of a basic transaction where law prohibits it.
4. Push, location and app permissions
Push notification permission is controlled through the device and through the notification settings in the RYDZ apps, where you can choose which kinds of notifications to receive: ride updates, payments and receipts, offers and promotions, and service and security alerts. Notifications that RYDZ marks as critical, such as security alerts, and ride requests sent to an online Captain, are delivered regardless of these choices; a Captain stops ride requests by going offline. Background location access is a separate decision tied to approved operational purposes and should not be bundled into acceptance of unrelated marketing. Turning off some notifications may cause delayed pickup or departure alerts; the app should explain the practical effect.
5. Calls, chats and recordings
A support or ride-related call or chat should be used only for legitimate coordination. If a conversation is recorded or transcribed, RYDZ must give legally adequate notice and use a proper legal basis; RYDZ does not currently record or transcribe phone calls. In-app chat messages between rider and Captain are stored with the ride. Customers and Captains must not use booking contact details for unsolicited marketing, stalking or harassment.
6. Maintaining correct details
Keep contact information accurate for important booking notices. A missed message due to incorrect details does not automatically remove consumer remedies for an unperformed service. If you receive an apparently fraudulent message, do not click suspicious payment links or provide OTPs; report it to support@rydzmw.com.
7. Contact and preferences
For marketing withdrawal or communications complaints, switch off "Offers and promotions" in the app's notification settings, use an unsubscribe control where provided, or contact support@rydzmw.com with subject Communications Preferences. We will honor eligible opt-outs while retaining the ability to send essential contract or security communications where legally required.
