1. Age and account creation
A person under 18 cannot independently register as a RYDZ Captain. An under-18 person also should not independently register a payment-bearing rider account; an adult parent or lawful guardian should make the booking, accept the applicable terms and supervise travel arrangements. This conservative platform eligibility rule is distinct from the data-protection requirement to obtain appropriate parental/guardian consent for consent-based processing of children's information. The RYDZ Captain app requires Captains to be at least 18 years old.
2. Booking a ride for a minor
Parents/guardians may arrange an otherwise lawful ride with a minor when they have authority, the service rules permit it and the trip can be undertaken safely. RYDZ does not offer an unaccompanied-child ride service. Minors should travel with a suitable responsible adult unless a specifically authorized child-transport program with verified consent, handover and safeguards is formally launched. A standard Captain is not a child-care provider and should not be asked to assume custody by default.
3. Bus and minibus travel for minors
Operators may have specific lawful rules for children, guardians, age proofs, fares and boarding. Any age-based rule, supervised travel requirement, price, child-seat or escort arrangement must be made available before ticket payment. RYDZ does not promise independent travel for minors if the Operator has not approved and operationalized it. Where guardian information is needed, collect the minimum required and protect it as children's personal data.
4. Identification and consent
For services involving a child, the adult making the booking must possess the authority to do so and provide truthful passenger information. When personal-data processing relies on consent, RYDZ will collect and record verifiable parent/guardian authorization in accordance with Malawi law and does not treat a child clicking "agree" as sufficient. Do not collect a child's national ID, school name, home address, health details or emergency contact unless needed and legally supported for the actual journey.
5. Safety and handovers
Use safe pickup and drop-off points; check that appropriate restraint and seating rules can be met; never exceed permitted occupancy. If there is uncertainty about the person receiving a child, the driver should contact the responsible adult and seek help from competent authorities where necessary; the driver should not hand a child to an unverified stranger. Report suspected abuse or exploitation promptly and lawfully. Do not film or publish the child or trip details without an appropriate lawful basis.
6. Privacy and safeguarding
Children's data is not used for behavioral advertising. RYDZ restricts employee access to child-related support cases; keeps identity and safety evidence for only the necessary lawful period; and requires Operators receiving child passenger data follow appropriate data-sharing safeguards. Parents/guardians and eligible data subjects may submit data requests through support@rydzmw.com, subject to identity verification and safeguarding needs.
7. Changes and exceptions
RYDZ does not offer "kids rides", school transport, chaperones, unaccompanied travel or guardianship checks, and will not advertise them unless the real product, trained staff, insurance and separate terms support it. This notice does not reduce applicable statutory protections of minors, passengers or consumers.
