Captain Code of Conduct

The standards of safety, conduct and professionalism expected from every RYDZ Captain.

  • Effective 19 October 2026 · Last updated 19 October 2026 · Version 1.0
  • Applies to: Captains and fleet administrators

1. Professional duties

Every Captain operating through RYDZ is expected to respect passenger safety, personal dignity, lawful transport requirements and transparent payments. Approval to use a driver account is conditional on maintaining those standards during each ride, before pickup, at drop-off and in relevant online communication.

2. Before going online

Verify the correct Captain and vehicle are active; inspect tyres, brakes, lighting, seats and safety equipment; confirm legal documents, insurance and roadworthiness; maintain fuel and a functional phone; avoid fatigue and intoxicants. Do not go online when ill, under the influence, suspended, unlicensed, on a phone-sharing arrangement or operating a vehicle not approved for the service. The vehicle must not exceed legal passenger capacity.

3. Upon receiving an offer

Accept only when able to reach the passenger lawfully. Do not repeatedly accept and cancel solely to manipulate fares, demand a higher unrecorded fare, discriminate by a protected characteristic, demand cash for a digital-paid fare or redirect a rider outside RYDZ. Where an app-based fare negotiation is permitted, complete it within the authorized feature and retain the agreed fare in the booking record.

4. At pickup

Stop at a safe permitted location; identify yourself consistently with the profile; verify the rider/booking without collecting unnecessary private details; help with reasonable luggage and accessibility needs; allow entry and exit with dignity. Never pressure a passenger to surrender a phone, disclose an OTP or permit recording. If a rider appears vulnerable, prioritize safety and seek authorized help rather than exploitation.

5. On the road

Follow traffic law and safe speed; use seatbelts and appropriate restraints; do not text or navigate unsafely; take a reasonable lawful route, explaining substantial diversions; honor agreed stops only when safe and within the disclosed fare; never carry weapons, illegal items or unauthorized passengers. A Captain may refuse an objectively dangerous or illegal request but must explain and record the reason without discriminatory abuse.

6. Respectful behavior

Zero tolerance for assault, sexual harassment, threats, coercion, discrimination, hate speech, fraud, theft, stalking or retaliation for a complaint. Do not request personal favors, romantic contact or off-duty meetings as a condition of transport. Do not retain or use passenger phone numbers or locations after the operational need has ended.

7. Completed trips and payment integrity

Start and end journeys accurately, collect only authorized charges, record cash truthfully, submit electronic payments through approved methods and report duplicate or failed payments. Return lost property through a documented support-assisted process; do not ask for unreasonable release fees. Do not falsify cleaning claims, distance or wait times.

8. Emergencies and investigations

Stop safely, call emergency services or police where appropriate, prioritize medical support and preserve relevant facts. Report serious incidents to RYDZ promptly once safe, without posting photos or personal details publicly. Cooperate with lawful police, insurer and platform investigations, while respecting privacy and your own legal rights.

9. Accountability and appeals

Breaches may lead to education, warning, temporary suspension, removal, referral to authorities or legal action according to severity and law. RYDZ will assess credible evidence and provide an appeal opportunity where appropriate. A low star rating alone should not establish wrongdoing or justify a disproportionate sanction. See the Captain Agreement and Complaints Policy.
